Amazon Prime Day 24 is here!

Amazon over the years has become my go-to for purchases! Believe it or not, when I purchase items on Amazon, I feel as if I save money. When I shop at physical stores, I usually go in with a list of specific items to purchase, but I end up leaving with more than I originally intended to buy.

When I purchase items on Amazon, I am the person who reads all 1,000 reviews and looks at all the pictures included in the reviews. This takes a while which doesn’t allow me to buy items impulsively.

Below are home purchases that I’ve made. Most of these items have been in our home for years, and I would highly recommend them to anyone in need of suggestions or a home upgrade!  What’s best is that you are sure to find the best deals on the items on Amazon Prime Day 24.

Amazon deals My Favorite Small Pantry Items

Lazy Susan Organizer My Lazy Susan organizer is the best!  I place all of my liquids on my Lazy Susan organizer.  A quick spin allows me to get to my items quickly.

Storage Baskets The storage baskets also allow me to group like items together which has allowed me to organize our small pantry.

Label Maker Once we organized our items in assigned storage baskets, we placed labels on the baskets.  With labels, everyone knows where the items belong in our kitchen which has helped keep it organized.

Can Organizer During the winter months we love to make soups using canned vegetables.  The can good organizer has been a lifesaver.  With the can organizer, we have saved so much space.

Storage Container With Lids-Decanting occurs when you transfer materials from one container to another (usually clear containers). You can free up additional space by transferring materials from their original container (which often are bulky).

Tea Organizer- I am a huge tea drinker.  Tea typically usually comes in square boxes which take up unnecessary space.  My tea organizer lets me see my tea collection at a glance and creates more space.

My Favorite Bathroom Items

Bathroom Vanity Jars Vanity jars have upgraded our bathroom drawers.  We no longer have bulky boxes inside our drawers and our cotton pads and Q-tips remain sterilized in the jars.

Laundry Hamper With Separators  After seventeen years of marriage, my husband continues to do his laundry himself.  Before we would have two hampers which took up a lot of space.  With the 2 in 1 laundry separator, we gained additional space which is always a win for me. The separators are removable which is a plus since we currently have a 2 story home (our laundry room is downstairs).

2 Tier Towel Rack This towel rack works wonders for drying your towels.

Shower Caddy  A shower caddy serves as a great organizer, allowing you to store all your shower essentials in a single, convenient spot, reducing the necessity to place them on the shower floor.

Under The Sink Organizer This is one of my absolute favorite purchases! Before the organizer, we just stuffed items under the sink. With the organizers, our items are now organized and easy to find.

Vanity Tray  The tray keeps our face wash and perfume in one area. Having a designated tray for our face wash and perfume makes our daily routine more efficient and keeps our counter space tidy and clutter free.clean home

5 Reasons You Can’t Keep Your Home Clean And Tidy

Have you ever felt like you are constantly cleaning and tidying your home, yet it never seems to stay clean for more than a few hours? If you feel this way you are not alone!  According to the New York Post, 65% percent of individuals admit their cleaning skills can be improved. Although you may want to throw the towel in and give up don’t!  There are so many benefits to having a clean and tidy home, I promise you will want to continue on your cleaning and tidying journey.

In this article, we’ll explore 5 reasons why you may be struggling to keep your house clean and tidy and offer practical solutions to help you maintain a tidy living space.

1. You Are Cleaning And Organizing Clutter

This is usually the main reason that I have observed when people say they struggle with keeping their homes clean and the same was true for my own home. Too many items in one area will lead to an abundance of items, a.k.a. clutter, which will make your living areas difficult to keep clean, tidy,  and organized.

Often in an attempt to make our homes clean and tidy, we move things around which is essentially shifting clutter.  Set a goal to declutter and remove items from your spaces by first identifying a space and a certain amount of items to declutter. For example, you may say “Today I will declutter 20 items from my closet.” Repeat until your spaces have minimal clutter.   If you have trouble departing with items, start with items that you don’t have an emotional connection to.  Junk drawers, medicine cabinets, and linen closets are great places to start. Once you see how great these areas look, you will be motivated to declutter additional areas.

2. Items In Your Home Don’t Have A Home

If items in your home don’t have a home, your home will look unorganized even if you have spaces that have been decluttered and have minimal items. By giving items home and returning them back to their designated spot when they are not in use, you are creating a space that is clean and tidy. Baskets and bins help to naturally give items a home.

3. You Don’t Have A Plan

Without direction and a cleaning and tidying plan, keeping your home clean can be difficult, allowing messes to quickly pile up which becomes overwhelming. Creating a cleaning and tidying schedule tells you what to do which gives you direction on how to tackle and maintain the cleanliness and tidiness of your home.  A daily routine is a crucial step to keeping your home clean.  Once you become proficient in daily cleaning and tidying, create a weekly and monthly schedule. By creating a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly schedule you break your tasks into manageable chunks.

4. You haven’t given you plan time to work

Have you ever tried to start something new, only to quit a few days or weeks later? Forming new habits can be hard especially when we are simultaneously trying to break our old habits. According to James Clear, on average it can take up to 66 days for a new habit to form.

When starting on the journey of keeping your home clean, start slow with one measurable cleaning and tidying task. Strive to complete this task each day. Cleaning your kitchen each night before you go to bed is an excellent cleaning task that you begin with.  Once you establish this habit you can begin to work on building additional cleaning and tidying habits.

5. You have a busy schedule with no set time aside

In addition to having a plan, it’s essential to set specific times aside to clean and tidy your home.  When you set a specific time to clean and tidy your home, you are making your home a priority.

You are also strengthening your plan and routine by completing the task repeatedly at the same time which will allow you to become proficient at the tasks that you are completing.

Tip: Set aside 30 minutes a day when you can clean and tidy. If you are just beginning remember use this time to clean your kitchen and reset your home by picking up items and returning them to their homes.  As you become proficient, you will be able to clean the kitchen and reset your home in less than 30 minutes and you can add in other tasks.  If you have family members have them help you also!

Final Thoughts:

Maintaining a clean and organized house is possible with the right strategies and mindset. Go through each reason listed above, thinking about if any applies to you. If so, try out the solutions provided and remember to give it time.

We often see the terms cleaning and tidying used interchangeably.  However, there is a difference between the words. Now that we know the difference between cleaning and tidying lets discover 10 Tidying Habits that will make tidying your home a breeze!

1. Declutter

Tidying is all about having a neat home which occurs when we have assigned places for items in our homes.  When we have too many items in our home it’s impossible to give every item a home resulting in an abundance of items a.k.a CLutter.

Once you create a system over time, tidying will become a quick task.  If you have an abundance of items in your home you will become overwhelmed very quickly when tidying your home.  Start today removing items from your home. You won’t regret it!

2. Make Your Bed Each Morning

Many individuals don’t make their bed however this is one of the most important things that you can do for your home. By making your bed each day your mood will be instantly boosted and you will be motivated to clean other rooms in your home.  If your bed isn’t made, your bedroom probably will be untidy which means your home is also likely to be untidy.  Make your bed!

3. Clean Your Kitchen Each Day

Have a daily plan where someone is responsible for washing dishes or loading the dishwasher, wiping down the counters, and cleaning the floors.  Involve your family members and this step will be a breeze.

Tip:  During the work week simple meals are great because it means less time cooking and less time cleaning.  A simple meat paired with vegetables and a starch can be prepared in no time.

4. Complete a 15-20 Minute Tidy Up Each Night

In addition to having a daily kitchen plan, have a  15-20 minute plan where you clear your surfaces and floors.  During this time return each item to its home.  If you have clothes on the floor place them in the hamper.  Return toys to the closet, bin, or designated space.  If there is any trash on the floor throw it away.

If you have kids have toys them help by putting away their toys.  They can also tidy their room which promotes responsibility.

When you wake up in the morning you will thank yourself as you will wake up to a clean home.

5. Take Out The Trash Each Day

Take the time to take out the trash each day.  Trash can accumulate quickly which causes visual clutter and odors.

6. Create A Routine

Routines are tasks we do on a daily, weekly, monthly, and even yearly basis.  Create a daily home routine that outlines tasks that you need to complete every day. Once you get in the rhythm of completing routines they will become automatic which helps keep our homes tidy (in less time).

Looking for a Daily Routine Checklist? This Daily Tidying Checklist will give you a list of the most common daily tasks that should be completed.

7. Create Homes For Your Items

Remember that tidy means neat and in order.  If you have items throughout your home that have no home and are placed everywhere, your home goes against the definition of tidy.

Strive to give everything a home.  For example, clothes should have a home of the closet and dresser. Shoes can be placed in your closet, underneath the bed, or shoe rack.  Toys can go in a bin or closet. Unused towels can be placed in your linen closet.  When you give every item a home, you are creating an environment that allows you to tidy your home quickly. There are times and days that our homes will be messy (this is normal) but when our items have a home, we can tidy a messy house quickly.

8. Address Your Paper Clutter

Everyday paper comes into our home.  Arts and crafts, homework, mail, you name it!  Take 5 minutes to address your paper clutter daily.  Throw away any paper that is junk mail and trash immediately. Create a folder or designate a drawer where once a week you will go through the folder or drawer and address the papers.  You may choose to file the items or shred the items.  Some items may need to be signed and returned to a specific business or person.  Lastly, consider going paperless with your monthly bills and statements.  This will reduce your mail immensely.

9. Have A Reset Day

One day out of the week have a day where you reset your home.  This means that you complete cleaning and tidying tasks that will put your home back to its original clean and tidy set. If you can, schedule a day on the weekend to reset your home. This allows you to prepare for the upcoming week and helps your week go smoother.  This article details how to do a Sunday Reset.

10. Give Yourself Grace

Lastly, creating a clean and tidy home will take time and may be hard for you.  Give yourself grace if you don’t immediately reach your goal.  Consistently make changes and you will slowly but surely create a clean and tidy home!

February’s Love Your Home Challenge 2025 (Free Printable)

February is just around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to focus on what we love most on this blog—our home! This year I’m participating in the annual month-long challenge to show my home spaces some extra love. It’s where I complete small, simple tasks that create a tidier, and more peaceful place to live. Ready to join me? Let’s make this February the month we fall in love with where we live!

This challenge won’t require you to purchase anything (all that you will need is the FREE Printable).  Instead, we will focus on what we have in our homes and regain an appreciation and love for the items through minimizing, tidying, and refreshing our homes.

At the end of the month, you will be amazed at how simple tasks each day can make a tremendous difference in your home. Consistency is the key and where the magic happens.

Let’s jump into the Love Your Home challenge!

How The Challenge Works

Each week there will be themes where you will complete tasks in certain parts of your home. Don’t forget to download and print the calendar so you can easily access it each week.

At the beginning of each week review the tasks and select at least three tasks to complete during the week.  Show your love by tagging me in your photos through your stories on Instagram @champsinorganzation.  That’s It!

What Will You Need

The good thing about this challenge is that you probably have everything already in your home.  This challenge is all about decluttering, tidying, and cleaning. A trash bag or box will work for decluttering and use the cleaning supplies that you currently have.

Week 1 Bedroom

Wash Or Swap Out Your Comforter Set-Wash your comforter and sheets on your bed.  As the comforter and sheets are washing and drying, sanitize your mattress.  When I wash my comforter and sheets, I prefer to do it in the morning as my comforter takes a while to dry.  After the comforters and sheets dry, make up your bed.

Declutter the drawers of your nightstand- Our nightstands can be a catch-all for all the things. To declutter and clean your nightstand,  first, take out everything. Grab a towel and vacuum and clean the drawers.   Declutter any trash and items that you no longer need.  With the remaining items group like items together. Place and organize the groups back in the drawers.

Limit the number of items on the top of your nightstand and only include  3-5 items. Repeat this process tomorrow for your 2nd nightstand!

Clean out your drawers-Similar to decluttering your nightstand, take everything out. Next, clean the drawer. If you have any clothes that you have not worn or have holes or stains, get rid of them.  Fold the remaining clothes and group them by color. Place the items back into the drawer.  Repeat for another drawer tomorrow!

Declutter toys or clothes in your children’s room– Take a box or bag and make a trip to your child’s bedroom. Start by donating clothes that no longer fit. Next, get rid of broken toys and any toys that your child no longer uses.

Week 2 Bathroom

Clear the counters-Look at the current state of your bathroom counters.  Are there items on the counter that you don’t use every day? Find a new home for these items.

Declutter expired, facial products– Declutter and throw away any expired facial products.

Declutter and clean underneath the sink-Today may take a few extra minutes and you will need a trash bag.  In addition to continuing to declutter expired makeup and facial products, look for old hair products, old cleaning sponges, medicine, vitamins, old razors, and old toys.  Trash any old fingernail polish, old air fresheners, old sponges, toothbrushes, and toothpaste.

Wash your towels– Freshen your towels with a good wash (include vinegar as a bonus).

Deep clean the bathroom– Now that you have freed your bathroom of clutter give your bathroom a deep clean by scrubbing the toilet, shower, and sink. Don’t forget to clean your mirrors.

Week 3 Kitchen

This week we will focus on the kitchen, the heart of the home! Our main focus is to declutter the kitchen as it contains an overwhelming number of items.

Empty and clean your refrigerator– Deep clean your refrigerator by first removing every item.  As you remove the food items check the expiration dates on the items.  Throw away any old food.  Remove and wash the shelves.  With the shelves removed, clean the inside of the refrigerator before returning the shelves and food.

Match your Tupperware with your lids– Go through your Tupperware set and declutter any containers that don’t have a lid or vice versa.

Declutter expired food and check for bulky boxes– Check the expiration dates of your spices and food items.  The first time that I decluttered my spices, I was shocked that we were still using spices that had expired several years ago.  If you have food items inside of boxes check your boxes.  Many times once opened, the boxes contains only a small amount of of food.  Taking the food out of the boxes opens up space in your pantry.

Wipe down and clean your appliances– Clean and wipe down your appliances including your microwave, stove, and oven.  If you have help move your refrigerator and give the area behind it TLC by sweeping and mopping.

Meal plan for the next day– Get ahead for the following week by meal planning.  Plan what you will eat each day and make a list of food items that you will need.  Look in your refrigerator and pantry as you may already have some of the items needed.

Week 4 Living Room

Change your current living arrangement– Look at the current placement of your furniture.  Freshen up your space by moving your couches or chairs.  If you have throw blankets on your couch you can even change the location of the blankets.

Show your sofa love by giving it a cleaning-First, remove the seat cushions and throw away any trash that has become hidden underneath. Next, vacuum any dirt (the amount of crumbs that we find is crazy). Return the cushions. If necessary, spot clean or vacuum the cushions.

Wash your curtains or clean your blinds– Our curtains and blinds are often overlooked when we clean and tidy our homes. If you have washable curtains, give the curtains a quick wash.  If you have blinds use a microfiber towel or vacuum with a soft brush.

Clean any spots on the wall-If you have any spots on the wall gather a towel or soft sponge to remove the dirt.  House Beautiful has a soap solution that will help remove the dirt.  Always test a small spot first and be mindful of the type of paint on your walls.

Look around your living room– Does every item have a home?  Strive to give every item a home.  Baskets work wonders for remote controls.  If you have an entertainment center with drawers, use the drawers as homes for items in your living room.

Bonus: Home Management

During the month of February you can also focus on your home documents.  Below are some extra ideas!

Create a home management binder– All that you need to create a home management binder is a binder and colored paper or dividers to divide each section.  Read all about how to create a home management binder HERE.  You’ll also find inside a free home management cover!

Create A Command Center Or Command Drawer- A command center is a dedicated place where you store your family’s important documents such as mail, calendars, school reminders, appointment reminders, event reminders, etc.  I like to call it a central hub for the home.  In addition to documents, this area can be a designated place where you store your keys, bags, and purses.   Imagine never forgetting where your keys are because you have a standard home for them!

Look for a place today to begin to create a command center– The kitchen, refrigerator, entryway, drawer, and empty walls are great places to create a command center.

Shred or throw away any mail– Do you find yourself constantly saying that you’ll get to your mail but never do? Read through your mail and shred or throw away any documents that you do not need. Consider going digital to reduce mail clutter.

Delete unnecessary email– Take the time to go through your emails and delete old emails.  Also, unsubscribe from companies and subscriptions that you do not need.  This will help with the amount of email that you receive each day.

Final Thoughts

The most important part of this challenge is to honor and show your home love.  Most importantly, the Love Your Home Challenge is meant to allow us to learn that we can be content with the items that we have and through hard work we can be happy and love our home. If you are looking to complete major tasks, this article shows how you can break those projects into 1 a month.
