As we prepare for shorter days and cooler nights, fall is the perfect season to declutter your home and complete maintenance decluttering tasks which helps maintain a clutter-free environment.  Items that we cherished and used faithfully six months in the spring may be obsolete now. Completing fall decluttering tasks with a fall decluttering checklist helps create a peaceful environment for your home which is a positive benefit for anyone.

Before you dive into your fall decluttering tasks, take a moment to assess your home, creating decluttering goals for your home.  Go through each room and make a list of the areas that need attention. Are there rooms that need more TLC than others? By creating a plan you being strategic in ensuring that your decluttering efforts are focused, efficient, and produce the results that you want.

Next, consider your goals for decluttering. Are you looking to create a less chaotic home and environment? Do you want to make your home more functional and efficient? With goals, you create direction that allows you to stay on course of decluttering your home from the fall.

Plan

Finally, identify the resources you have available. Do you have boxes and bins to store the items that you will declutter? Will you need to purchase storage containers or shelving? Are there specific tools or cleaning supplies you’ll need? Having these resources on hand before you begin to declutter for the fall will save you time and frustration.

When you declutter your kitchen include your counters, pantry, cabinets, and drawers.  Don’t forget your refrigerator. We often overlook the refrigerator but we commonly have expired condiments in our refrigerators.

Summer gadgets and appliance that you did use this summer

Any beach or summer gear that you did not use-Store the items that you plan to keep

Any items that you have moved from the home and no longer use

Lawncare equipment that no longer works or you no longer use

Sporting goods equipment that you no longer use
